Justin Knighten | Public Relations Advisor
Justin supports media relations for the Harvey Milk Foundation and guides planning to help celebrate “Harvey Milk Day” throughout California, in national initiatives and in international communities.
Justin is a full time executive with Lucas Public Affairs in Sacramento and has worked in the Legislative Unit at the California Environmental Protection Agency – Office of Secretary Linda Adams. He was recruited to work in the Legislative Unit at the Department of Toxic Substances Control as part of the Green Chemistry Innovative logistical and communication teams. Assisting with the Green Chemistry blog provided the opportunity to work on innovative approach for policy development.
Justin gained valuable media relations insight while interning with Talk Radio News Service in Washington, D.C and while interning with the District Thirteen – United States Coast Guard public affairs unit in Seattle, WA.
Justin supports media relations for a California-based renewable energy pioneer and raises money and awareness for Best Buddies International – a group that enhances the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
Justin is on the local board for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the Sacramento chapter of the New Leaders Council (NLC) institute, a national organization that “trains and support the next generation of progressive political entrepreneurs.” Justin recently provided on the ground support in local LGBT capacity building efforts and LGBT pride events for the Harvey Milk Foundation in Budapest Hungary.
